The Renaissance
The Renaissance
The renaissance was a time period in Europe during the 14th-17th century. This time period was followed the middle ages. The renaissance is known for a lot of things including the new system of astronomy, as well as the development of commerce, as well as powerful innovention of paper, printer, and oil paints. This was huge for all aspiring artists. Their were many different types of paintings, and different styles. A lot of these originated from this time period. Paintings were mainly done for families and people of royalty, who would have things with self portraits, as well as family portraits. For the people who showed more intelligence it was also a growth time for them after a long time of culture decline. The renaissance took many different forms of humanity growth. It was expressed mostly from the intellectual movement called humanism, which had many different benefits.
Raphael
Raphael was a known painter during his times period. His full name was Raffaello Sanzio da Urbino, but he often just went by Raphael. He was born March 28, 1483 and died April 6, 1520. Raphael was also an architect in the High Renaissance period. He was very well known for his clarity and form, ease of composition, and visual achievement. His type of work was very traditional, as well as a very hard working. He worked very hard to achieve his different types of work, however when he died at the age of 37 he left a lot of work not done. As he got older a lot of his work was done by his workshop with his drawings. Even though this way was found to be more efficient, his work lacked a lot of his original high quality traits. Raphael was an extremely influential artist at his time in Rome. Now a lot of his work is found in different historical sights in Europe, where he grew up, and achieved most of his goals.
My Take On Raphael’s Work
While looking at different photos that Raphael has painted was very interesting. He has a very distinct style of painting, and found a lot of his pictures really cool and fascinating to look at. I decided to pick “The Small Cowper”. In this painting you see a mother and her son. I really like the tone of colour he uses. He uses a lot of washed out colours like yellows, and oranges. Which I think is very cool, and traditional for that time period. My favourite part of this picture is that if you look closely it looks like he painted halos around the mother and child. I think that this is something that is really interesting as it is not the first thing you see. He did it very light, and can only be seen if you were ton look closely at the painting. I think it is important to add things like this in because it gives the viewers something to observe, and not just have it as a plan picture.
