Social Media - Performance Task

Open your eyes, get out of bed, look in the mirror, and hide everything, hide the stress, the pain, the anxiety, and all insecurities. Growing up with social media is one of the best, and worst things. Being a teenager I know how much a phone means to us, checking our status every chance we get. Looking at all the models, and people who are living what looks to be the ‘perfect’ life. Looking at them and trying to figure out how to look like them. but then hit back by reality and facing that it just isn't possible. On social media people are constantly trying to show and prove to the world that they are happy, and that they are truly living there best life. However, behind the screen is something totally different. You put on a confident attitude, you try to be outgoing, and you try to be someone you aren’t, just in the hopes that people will like you, so you hide away the truth. The truth that maybe you aren't as confident as you lead on. Everyone loves social media, but it’s hard to realize that something you love isn't always the best for you. Social media sets unfair expectations. And we as teenagers see those and we want to live up to them. But trying to live up to something that just isn't you then makes you think that who you are isn't good enough. Im sure we have all seen people online and thought to ourselves what it would be like to have a life like theres, and how you could never feel insecure because everyone is constantly saying how perfect your are. Leaving you to feel like since your life isn't like that, whats the point of even continuing trying. Social media makes us want to constantly seem perfect, never giving us a real chance to figure out who we really are.
